"It is the virtually unmeasurable but oh-so-fun way to be in the marketing business"-- Seth Godin Permission Marketing p. 123 sentence 5 (complete sentence)

I thought I would have a little fun with the 123.5 book meme going around.  For those of you who haven't heard of this one, it's to help break "blogger's block".  Here it is:

 1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don’t search around and look for the “coolest” book you can find. Do what’s actually next to you.

Now, I didn't follow the rules completely, because I wanted to write a marketing oriented post.  I have Seth Godin's book--no I still haven't finished it--and thought, hey wouldn't it be fun to take different marketing books and do this--I see a trip to the library in my near future.

So what is Seth saying here?  Well the section relates to brand trust.  Like Ivory soap, or Marlboro cigarettes.  But just look at that sentence.  What is your fun way to be in the marketing business?  What do you like to do?  I love to get into a great conversation with folks over a pint or two and talk about writing and the Internet--okay they have to be geeky friends to talk about the Internet.  I also love to debate the "evils of marketing", it's just a fun excercise.  So ask yourself...what is the most fun part of marketing for you?

There, now I have you thinking.  Job done.
